The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is taking steps to integrate cloud-based services and implement automated processes into its capabilities used to assess Federal agencies operations. The move is aimed at improving workload efficiency and mitigating cyber threats. GAOs director of IT and cybersecurity, Dave Hinchman, emphasized the need for proactive cybersecurity tools and blocking malicious attacks. Cyber security advisor Daren Presbitero agreed with Hincman on the need to slowly integrate automation into agency workflows. Hinchmen recommended a crawl-walk-run approach to gradually introduce automation into an agency, starting with low-lying processes that are easy to automate and dont have a significant impact on other systems within the agency. He also recommended agencies develop plans to educate employees on the anticipated impact of automation and to establish partnerships with industry partners.
