Wiskerke Onions has significantly improved its onion sorting line by partnering with Flikweert Vision, a Dutch company that developed smart sorting solutions using advanced camera technology and artificial intelligence. The company added a Divider and two QualityGraders to the process, making it significantly more efficient and accurate. Previously, eight people had to manually remove the tare, but now a machine takes over this task entirely. The success of this process led to a significant increase in labor efficiency and quality control. In 2024, six additional QualityGraders were integrated into the process. Where previously, 24 employees were needed for sorting, now only one operator is required to oversee the operation. The robotic arm can replace heavy sieves from an onion topper in 14 minutes.
