Customer demand for last-mile delivery has reached a high point due to the rise in e-commerce, with options like next-day or same-day delivery becoming commonplace. To meet these demands, logistic providers must utilise automation in their supply chain to meet customer demands. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced robotics is helping to streamline the process and reduce manual labour, and keep the process sustainable. Gartners Future of Supply Chain survey found that customer satisfaction will be the most valuable metric for strategic decisions, with 69% of respondents saying customer satisfaction is the most important metric. Many companies are using delivery robots to meet the growing demand for delivery, with autonomous robots designed to transport goods over short distances and reach the recipient in record time once the order has been placed. Automated platforms use AI and machine learning to orchestrate and successfully carry out delivery planning, which can streamline delivery times and increase customer satisfaction.
