The ADM Montreal Expo showcased six design and manufacturing shows under one roof, showcasing innovations across industries such as 3D printing, energy efficiency, packaging and robotics. Attendees were able to interact with over 250 suppliers and discover the latest manufacturing solutions. A panel session hosted by Carl Fugère with REAI (the Grouping of Industrial Automation Companies), discussed trends in automation and the factors holding manufacturers back from fully embracing robotics. Martin Noel, regional director at FANUC Canada, advised a risk-gain analysis approach for automation, focusing on low-hanging-fruit projects that offer high gains with minimal risk. Luc Vanden-Abeele, marketing manager at NūMove Robotics & Vision, emphasized that successful automation isnt as simple as replacing a person with a robot, but its a strategic process to ensure the automation is tailored and relevant to each application. The recent launch of H2CanFly, a federal not-for-profit national consortium aimed at accelerating hydrogen flight from concept to commercialization, also highlighted the potential for collaboration among industry experts.
