A group of University of Wisconsin-Stout automation leadership students completed a multi-year project to develop a niche training station and training materials for Eaton, a manufacturing company that manufactures transformers for utility companies and data centers. The project was part of their capstone course and received around $350,000 in financial support from Eaton. Eaton donated a coil winding machine from its plant to Waukesha County Technical College, allowing employees to train at the college and providing students with hands-on experience. The students also developed training materials including programmable logic control (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI). They will use the new coil winding training station for about 20 employees per year.
