Swiss-based toolholding specialist, Rego-Fix, has opened a new Center for Machining Excellence (CME) in Whitestown, Ind., and reorganised its North American operations. Jeff Schemel, the companys general manager USA, was appointed after leading North American sales efforts. Despite expecting 2025 to be a strong growth year, there are expected to be some reductions in customer spending that may delay growth. The company also anticipates a continued growth in aerospace and defense industries through 2025. Concerns about tariffs and uncertainty surrounding which countries and exact tariff amounts will impact manufacturing and capital expenditures. The shortage of skilled labor and ongoing skills gap has increased demand for Swiss-type machines, driven by low maintenance. The CME also houses a five-axis micro-milling machine for small and intricate part features, a three-axis vertical machining center for high-torque applications, and a Swiss-style machine processing dental implants and other medical parts like bone screws.
