The founder of AI startup Mechanize, Tamay Besiroglu, has stated that his company aims to build virtual work environments, benchmarks, and training data to enable the full automation of all work. The company, which launched last week, aims to achieve this by creating simulated environments and evaluations that capture the full scope of what people do at their jobs. However, the companys focus is on white-collar work, not manual labor jobs that would use robotics. While some argue that AI will make human workers obsolete or make them more valuable, others argue that it will augment workers rather than replace them. Concerns about job displacement have been raised among workers in various industries and demographics, with 54% believing AI poses a significant risk of widespread job displacement.
